NON-DISCRIMINATION

• Part of DC Media Academy's mission as an educational institution for motion picture arts is to champion diversity both in front of and behind the slate.

• Our activities/operations include, but are not limited to, the hiring of staff, the selection of vendors, and the offering of workshops, classes, and other events. 

• Throughout our activities/operations, we are committed to principles of fairness, equity, and inclusion. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), gender identity or expression, age, national origin, disability, marital status, political affiliation, sexual orientation, military status, care giving responsibilities, or any other status protected by law.

• DCMA reserves the right to deny services to any individual who does not adhere to these principles of non-discrimination.​

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS

These cancellation policies are to ensure that students on our waiting lists have the opportunity to participate. To cancel your registration, please email us at info@dcmediaacademy.com. Let us know if you are canceling due to illness or another situation arises. We are happy to work with individuals on a case by case basis.

For Multi-Part Programs

• We define "multi-part programs" as a series of classes, consisting of multiple sessions. These are billed as a "program" or "workshop series".

• All cancelations made within 72 hours of initial payment will receive a 100% refund.

• All cancelations made after 72 hours of initial payment but before the start of the program will receive a 90% refund. 

• All cancelations made after the start of the program will receive a prorated refund based on the remaining portion of the program. 

• For payment plans, refunds will be calculated based on payments the student has made, not the program’s listed price.

For One-Part Programs​

• A "one-part program" is a single class, consisting of one session. These are billed as a "workshop" or a "class".

• All cancellations made more than 48 hours in advance will receive a 100% refund.

• All cancellations made between 24-48 hours in advance will not be issued a refund, but will be issued a credit that can be used for any other DCMA program.

• All cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance will not be issued a refund or credit.

Portfolio Guarantee​

Students in the 10-Week Filmmaking Program (Directors Track) are expected to complete the program’s weekly requirements for creating an original short film. Failure to do so will lead to a rushed production, placing undue burden on crew and cast members.

In recognition of unforeseen circumstances that prevent students from meeting production deadlines, our “portfolio guarantee” means we will refund you up to $500* if you choose to continue the program in the Technical Track. Students in the Technical Track earn credits in a variety of production roles and create portfolio content by helping other students complete their films. 

*Only students who paid the full price of $5,000 upfront or signed up for an Affirm payment plan would be refunded $500 if their production doesn’t get approved on time. Students who paid with a discount would have that same discount applied to the refund. For example, a 10% discount means paying a total of $4,500, so the refund would be $450 (10% off $500). For students using an alternative payment plan, the amount of the refund would be deducted from their remaining balance.

Missed Classes:

• We do not offer refunds for missed classes.

• Professionals who volunteer to teach our programs will receive the registration list and check attendance at the start of class. Being a no-show is unprofessional and disrespectful. By failing to practice common courtesy, you hurt your own reputation and that of DCMA as a whole.

PERSONAL DATA

• We collect personal data that students provide during our registration process, such as names, emails, phone numbers, and mailing addresses.

• We do not collect social security numbers or credit card information.

• We do not share or sell any of our students’ personal data with third parties.

• If a third party (e.g. film production companies, casting agencies, etc.) asks for student contact information, we will not share any personal data unless approved by the student.

COMMUNICATIONS

• All emails we receive through forms on our website and when students enroll are automatically added to our e-mailing list.

• You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time by clicking “unsubscribe” at the bottom of our newsletters, or by emailing us at info@dcmediaacademy.com.

• Once enrolled, students should check their inbox often for class materials and program updates.
